Cap sizes

MALA has been offering various size closures for wine bottles for more than 7 years. Customers do not only want to switch their bottles at times. They also want to use various closures with the same machine. Consequently, different systems were developed to allow for processing multiple sizes without acquiring lots of machinery or making many adjustments.
The model LC 28x44 mm DuR is designed for the BVS bottle finish. The main market for this closure is Switzerland. There aluminum closures have been in use for many years, resulting in a current market share of more than 50%.
Many aluminum closures can be used for bottle finishes with a diameter of 31.5 mm as well. In this case, it is necessary to deep-draw (plunge) – as is the case with all other closures. By doing so, it is possible to achieve better leak tightness.

The LCW 28x44 and the LC 28x44 W were developed especially for the German market as alternatives to the GD28 and the long cap.
The LCW 28x44 is a single-piece closure, featuring a pilfer proof indicator that is clearly visible to the customer. It can be twisted off completely and therefore offers a perfect solution for deposit/reusable bottles.

Printing and Decoration

 Offset-, Sideprinting, Foil or Relief-embossing?
Aluminum screw cap closures are printed in high resolution using side or sheet-fed offset printing. By not having to shrink the capsule, we are able to provide very intricate decorations – as of late even with foil stamping in order to obtain the luster that is characteristic to
label embossing. And for anyone that is interested: there are special effect varnishes. Never say never – but there are still some things in store for us.
MALA offers four options for side decoration:
Offset print – very cost-effective, but only applicable with asymmetrical decorations.
Side print – with side offset, allows for a wider variety of different decorations and provides brilliance, matt finish or a combination of both to the printing format.
Hotfoil embossing – creates closures that are even more attractive by providing metallic brilliance, mirror finish and material effect.
Relief embossing – of the top is available with any combination of foil and color.
